Bula Fiji!

Dear Readers,

I am writing this from Fiji! I’m here for a month with my Dad and sister visiting my grandfather and grandmother. Today is our first day here, proper. The trip itself has been so much of an adventure and it was also the first time that my sister and I have been on a plane. I like flying, except for the turbulence. I don’t know if or when I’ll ever get used to it.

This is, basically, an opportunity of a lifetime so I want to be here for all of it and be in the moment – I didn’t even bring my iPod Touch! Thus, I won’t be blogging as much or responding to comments or approving them as quickly as I usually do (if you’ve commented on my posts before, your comment should come right through without needing approval) as well as responding to emails. I also won’t be as active on Twitter.

I’ve been taking lots of pictures and shall be sharing them here. There is an abundance of coconut trees and banana trees and also sugarcane, in addition to other tropical fruit. I drank coconut water from a coconut and liked it (I didn’t like canned coconut water, ever, even if I tried to). I have also seen growing pineapple and that was quite a surprise! There is so, so much here!

As I’m in Fiji, I am also at least a day ahead due to the time zone. I don’t feel a lot of jet lag and I was up bright and early this morning at 7:30 (Fiji time). During my visit here I’ve set my blog’s settings to Fiji local time, so I’m not sure how it will affect things besides, perhaps, the timestamps on my posts. We’ll see how it works.

I have so much more to write and share, but I shall keep it brief for now. I will write all about it, with pictures, when we are back and settled in.

Until then, yours truly,

Zoe

*Bula is Fijian for “hello”.

Oh, Zoe, this is awesome news! I hope you have marvelous time with your family there! :-) It sure sounds like you are off to a great start. ;-) I have not yet been to Fiji, but Mr. GFE has (on a scuba diving trip, of course). He loved it! It’ s on my list. I’ll look forward to your report and stunning photos when you return. :-)

    Enjoy, dear! xoxo,

WOW! I am impressed. You posted awhile ago about your first family trip to California and how amazed you were and liked traveling and now you are in Fiji? O.o You don’t do anything by halves do you? ;)
I hope you have a lovely time. I can’t wait to see the photos on your blog. My cousin went and said it is really beautiful. Have a fun trip!

I’m so jealous! I can’t wait to see all of your beautiful photos.
I’m with you on the canned coconut water. It never did anything for me. But I bet drinking it straight from the coconut is pretty awesome.

Hope you have a lovely trip and can’t wait to hear more!

Hi everyone, thanks! I’m having a super time here and enjoying myself immensely. The culture is wonderful and everyone here is so friendly. There’s nothing here so far that I’ve tried that I don’t like, especially in regards to the food. My sister says it is the foodie in me but I’ve never been a picky eater. I’m open to just about anything. I’m writing everything down and taking photos as much as I can while trying to be discreet. I can’t wait to share it with you all! :)
